2013 Illinois Farmland Values & Lease Trends

The Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers has released its 2013 report on farmland values in Illinois agriculture. A few highlights: Grain Prices Mother Nature slashed corn and soybean yields in 2012 which resulted in skyrocketing grain prices. $7.00 to $8.00 per bushel corn and $15.00 to $18.00 per bushel soybeans were significant and offset much of the yield drop. 2013 Illinois Land Values Conference

The 2012 Land Values Report from the ISPFMRA is available! Here's a peek at what we found. Land prices and returns to farmland leases have continued their strong move up, uninterrupted now for a several year run, hitting new highs almost month by month. Just a year ago, a look back at 2010 indicated excellent to good farmland had hit $8,000 to $9,000 an acre.
